An aluminium chips briquetting machine is a moulding device that utilises a hydraulic system to compress metal scrap. It is primarily used to process aluminium scrap, copper scrap, metal granules and powders, compressing loose materials into high-density cylindrical briquettes for easier storage, transport and subsequent smelting, whilst also reducing the space occupied by metal scrap.

Working Principle of the Vertical Hydraulic Briquetting Press

The vertical hydraulic briquetting press primarily consists of a hydraulic power unit, a compression cylinder, a feed hopper, a compression die, an electrical control system and a frame. During operation, collected aluminium shavings or metal powders are fed into the hopper; once the material enters the compression chamber, the hydraulic cylinder drives the ram downwards to apply pressure, gradually compressing and shaping the loose material within the die cavity.

Compared with conventional mechanical compression methods, the hydraulic system provides stable and adjustable pressure, allowing operators to adjust the compaction parameters according to the type of material, moisture content, and particle size. For aluminium particles and fine metal powders with good flowability, it is also necessary to control the feed rate appropriately to avoid uneven filling of the mould cavity, which could affect the density of the finished product.

Equipment Structure and Processing Characteristics

This type of equipment utilises a vertical compression structure, with a relatively compact footprint, making it suitable for use in metalworking workshops and scrap recycling plants. The hydraulic system is the core of the machine; its pressure, cylinder stroke, and compaction cycle directly affect production efficiency and moulding quality.

The equipment can be configured with compression dies of different sizes according to actual requirements to accommodate metal briquettes of varying specifications. For materials such as aluminium shavings, turned aluminium shavings, copper shavings and metal powders, attention must be paid to the differences in compression between different forms: elongated aluminium shavings are prone to bridging, whilst fine powders tend to trap air; therefore, both the feeding mechanism and compression speed must be appropriately designed.

Scope of Application and Selection Recommendations

Aluminium chips briquetting machines are widely used in aluminium alloy processing plants, metal recycling enterprises, mechanical manufacturing workshops and the non-ferrous metal smelting industry. The compressed metal briquettes are easier to stack and transport, and facilitate subsequent centralised smelting, whilst reducing losses caused by loose aluminium scrap during transit.

When selecting a model, key considerations should include hourly throughput, hydraulic pressure, briquette diameter, single-cycle compression time and material characteristics. If the aluminium shavings contain cutting fluid or cooling oil, pre-treatment and drainage configurations should also be considered based on actual operating conditions.

Only by appropriately matching the structure and parameters of the hydraulic briquetting machine can one achieve a balance between briquette density, production efficiency, and equipment service life.
