Lithium Battery to Black Mass Crushing and Sorting Line
Lithium batteries are widely used in electric vehicles, energy storage devices, and consumer electronics due to their high energy density and wide range of applications. However, the number of used lithium batteries is increasing rapidly as their service life grows. At the same time, precious metals such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel are still contained in them, which can be recovered in the form of black mass, which cannot only be recycled but also has a very high economic value.
The lithium battery crushing and sorting line developed by SUNY GROUP aims to realize the efficient extraction of black mass from waste batteries. The process includes: pre-processing → crushing → screening → sorting → black powder collection. The whole process not only emphasizes the material recovery rate, but also takes into account the safety and environmental protection.
In terms of structure, the production line usually includes four parts: crushing system, screening system, sorting system, and black powder collection module. Different types of batteries (e.g., cylindrical, soft pack, square batteries) are processed slightly differently: soft pack batteries need to be stripped of their shells, square batteries mostly involve steel shell shearing, while cylindrical batteries are more suitable for direct crushing into the subsequent stages.
Crushing system is the core of the production line, the first pass for the primary crushing, often choose hammer or jaw crusher, for initial crushing and size reduction; then enter the secondary fine crushing link, usually using shear or impact crusher, the material will be further crushed to the appropriate particle size, for subsequent screening and sorting. In the crushing process, an explosion-proof and dust removal system is crucial; it is necessary to set up nitrogen protection, explosion vent, pulse dust collector, etc., to protect personnel and equipment safety.
Physical sorting system covers a variety of equipment to work together: airflow sorting machine is used to remove light diaphragm, plastics and other impurities; magnetic separator can remove ferromagnetic parts in the battery; eddy current sorting machine is effective in separating non-ferrous metals, such as aluminum and copper; gravity sorting equipment to ultimately extract the black powder containing lithium, cobalt, nickel, with a high recycling efficiency, is the whole line of the "value of the core! The whole line is the “core of value”.
In terms of equipment selection and investment analysis, according to the target processing capacity (such as 1 ton per day, 5 tons, 10 tons, etc.) for the configuration of equipment specifications, the key focus is on the crushing capacity, sorting accuracy, and degree of automation. Although the overall investment is relatively concentrated, because of the high value of raw materials, recycled product prices are stable, usually taking 1~2 years to realize the return on capital, and the rate of return is very attractive.
