AISI Welcomes Newly Elected Leaders of the Congressional Steel Caucus
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) welcomed the new leadership that has taken over the Congressional Steel Caucus.
In a statement issued by the steel industry group, its president and CEO Thomas J. Gibson extended warm welcome to Rep. Conor Lamb (D-PA), who is being appointed as Chairman of the Congressional Steel Caucus. Commending his commitment to steel industry and nearly two million jobs supported by it, Gibson stated that the organization is looking forward to work with him and the two Vice-Chairmen- Reps. Mike Bost (R-IL) and Rick Crawford (R-AR). Alongside, he also thanked Congressman Pete Visclosky (D-IN) for his long-time leadership of the Steel Caucus.
The statement hoped that the strong new bipartisan leadership will continue to ensure support from Congress to policies that promote steel manufacturing and create additional jobs in the sector. AISI is looking forward to continued collaboration with the new leadership, AISI statement said.
After taking the leadership role, Rep. Conor Lamb, D-Penn. announced that he is excited to work with colleagues from both parties to help strengthen the American steel industry and protect millions of jobs supported by it.
The new leaders were named in the wake of Democratic Party taking control of the House of Representatives.
The Steel Caucus acts as a bipartisan coalition that advocates for domestic steel producers and workers.
