Scrap Paper Plastic Recycling Sorting Method
There are a variety of methods that can be used during the sorting of waste paper and plastics for recycling, both manual and automated. Here are some common methods for sorting waste paper and plastic for recycling:
1. Thermal separation method:
Thermal separation method mainly uses the method of changing the properties of plastic after heating to achieve separation of paper and plastic.
(a) Hot cylinder method: This separation device consists of an electrically heated chrome-plated barrel and a hollow cylinder (drum) equipped with a scraper. The scraper is connected to the wall of the heating cylinder, and the two rotate in opposite directions, and a trough is connected to the bottom of the cylinder. After the mixture is put into the trough, the plastic component begins to melt as soon as it comes into contact with the heating cylinder and adheres to the wall of the cylinder. The scraper will scrape it off and fall into the trough. This method can separate more than 90% of plastic from paper. The amount of paper contained in the separated plastic is very small and can be controlled below 1%.

(b) Hot air flow method: This method uses the plastic film to shrink after being heated, thereby reducing its specific surface area and achieving separation of the plastic film and paper. The mixture is fed into a heated area, which can be an agricultural grain dryer, and the mixture is heated and granulated, thereby reducing its surface area. The mixture with paper is then fed into an air separator, where the air flow carries away the paper from the mixture, while the thermoplastic particles fall to the bottom of the separator. This method virtually separates the plastic from the paper.
2. Wet separation method:
The wet separation method is to send the light materials obtained from the dry separation equipment into the crusher. During the crushing process, the pulp flows out from the small holes on the sorting plate, while the plastic is separated from It is discharged from the outlet, then sent to the dehydrator for dehydration, and finally enters the air separator for separation.
3. Electric separation method:
This method feeds the mixture of paper and plastic into the separator, and the mixture falls into the rotating grinding drum, and then enters the corona area formed between the wire electrode and the grinding drum. The paper is drawn toward the electrodes while the plastic remains attached to the drum, and as the drum rotates, the plastic eventually falls to the bottom and is collected.
