Scrap aluminium profiles, thermal break aluminium, and end-of-life vehicle (ELV) scrap contain a significant amount of recyclable metal resources. The aluminium profile and ELV crushing and sorting production line utilises processes such as crushing, screening, and intelligent sorting to achieve the efficient separation of aluminium, copper, steel, and non-metallic materials, thereby improving resource recovery rates and providing metal recycling enterprises with stable, large-scale processing solutions.

A multi-stage crushing system enhances downstream sorting efficiency

Aluminium profiles and end-of-life vehicle scrap are characterised by complex material composition, significant variations in size, and high levels of contaminants; a single piece of equipment often struggles to achieve the desired processing results. Consequently, this production line employs a multi-stage crushing process.

Firstly, a twin-shaft shredder performs pre-crushing on large-sized aluminium profiles, thermal break aluminium doors and windows, and automotive dismantling components, reducing the material size to a level suitable for subsequent processing. Compared to high-speed grinding equipment, twin-shaft shredders typically operate at speeds of 10–30 rpm, offering high torque, low blade wear, and strong adaptability.

Subsequently, the material enters the hammer mill system for further separation, ensuring that metal is thoroughly separated from adherent materials such as plastic, rubber, and foam. For thermal break aluminium scrap, the effectiveness of separating the crushed aluminium from the thermal break strips directly impacts the subsequent metal purity; therefore, precise control of the crushing particle size is particularly crucial.

Intelligent Sorting Technology Enables Precise Recovery of Multiple Metals

The crushed mixed material then enters the core sorting stage. This production line integrates multiple sorting technologies, enabling step-by-step recovery of different materials.

A magnetic separator first recovers ferrous metals, removing steel impurities. Subsequently, a trommel screen classifies the material by particle size, improving the operational efficiency of downstream equipment.

For contaminants such as lightweight plastics, foam, and textiles, an air separation system is utilised for removal. Following this initial purification, the material enters an eddy current separator for the efficient recovery of non-ferrous metals such as aluminium and copper. Modern eddy current separators typically achieve high separation efficiency for non-ferrous metals within the 10–100 mm particle size range.

In high-value-added recycling scenarios, the X-ray intelligent sorting system plays a further role. By identifying differences in the density and composition of various metallic elements, it enables the automatic classification of different grades of aluminium, such as cast aluminium, primary aluminium, and die-cast aluminium, thereby enhancing the value of recycled aluminium products.

The aluminium profile and ELV scrap crushing and sorting production line is capable of processing:

  • Aluminium profile scrap

  • Thermal break aluminium door and window scrap

  • End-of-life vehicle (ELV) dismantling scrap

  • Mixed light metal scrap

  • Aluminium-plastic composite materials

  • Metal-containing industrial offcuts

Through automated continuous operation, this system effectively reduces labour costs, improves metal recovery rates, and minimises the loss of recyclable resources. For recycled aluminium enterprises, vehicle dismantling companies, and comprehensive metal recycling centres, such production lines have gradually become essential equipment for enhancing resource utilisation and economic efficiency.
