The fully automated solar panel recycling line utilises a process combining heat treatment and mechanical sorting to achieve the efficient recovery of resources such as glass, aluminium, copper, and silicon. This not only reduces the environmental impact of end-of-life photovoltaic modules but also enables their recycling and reuse.

Solar modules are primarily composed of tempered glass, aluminium frames, solar cells, EVA film, backsheets, and junction boxes. In a standard crystalline silicon solar panel:

Solar Panel Structure

Material Component Approximate Percentage
Glass 70% - 75%
Aluminium frames 8% - 10%
Plastics and EVA 10%
Copper and silicon materials 5% - 8%

Among these, the EVA adhesive film possesses strong adhesive properties and is a key factor affecting recycling efficiency.

Process and Separation Technology

This fully automated solar panel recycling production line first removes the aluminium frame and junction box, before conveying the modules to a thermal treatment system. By precisely controlling temperature and dwell time, the EVA encapsulation layer is softened and gradually decomposed, thereby enabling the effective separation of the glass from the cell layer.

A multi-stage sorting system facilitates the recovery of high-value materials.

Once pyrolysis is complete, the remaining composite material enters the crushing and sorting stages.

The production line utilises crushing, screening, air classification, and fine separation technologies to sort and recover copper, plastics, and silicon powder. The copper material, primarily derived from solder strips and conductive circuits, is efficiently extracted via an air classification system; plastics and backsheet materials proceed to subsequent recycling processes, whilst silicon powder is collected via a dedicated collection system for centralised processing.

Capacity and Efficiency

For medium to large-scale recycling projects, based on an 8-hour daily operation, the system can process approximately 400–480 waste photovoltaic modules, meeting the demands of industrial-scale recycling.

Furthermore, the overall resource recovery rate of the equipment exceeds 95%, effectively enhancing the utilisation efficiency of high-value materials such as glass, aluminium, and copper.

Advantages and Environmental Compatibility

As an increasing number of photovoltaic power stations reach the end of their lifecycle, the processing of waste modules is becoming a critical link in the new energy industry chain. Compared to traditional manual dismantling methods, fully automated solar panel recycling production lines offer the advantages of continuous, standardised, and large-scale operation.

The system is compatible with the processing requirements of both monocrystalline and polycrystalline photovoltaic modules, and supports recycling processes for both single-glass and double-glass modules. Pulse dust removal and air purification devices are incorporated into the production process to effectively control dust emissions, meeting the construction requirements of modern, environmentally friendly recycling plants.
